It will happen sooner or later, you will break a light bulb in it’s socket. The real question is how do you get it out?

Take a potato and cut it in half. Insert the flat side of the cut potato into the socket and simply twist out the broken bulb.

First, and most important take all steps to assure that the electricity is disconnected from the fixture.
Many fixture may not have enough room to get the flat end of a cut potato into the bulb socket. Using an uncut potato often works better, as it gets further down into the broken bulb and the skin offers more turning resistance to easier free a stubborn bulb.
