Top Five Firefox/Thunderbird Plugins for Webmasters
As a web developer, my primary job is to solve problems. Whether it would be making things more efficient and easier down the road or just making things work. I’ve compiled a list of the top plugins and add-ons for Firefox and Thunderbird to make you more productive.
1. SearchStatus - This plugin will display a page’s PageRank and Alexa rank. Other features include: checking backlinks, indexed pages, whois information, archive.org information, linking information, keyword density, robots.txt and meta tags. I use this plugin every single day, even on my home personal computer.
2. IE Tab - This plugin will switch FireFox to Internet Explorer with just a click of a button. This is handy when you need to check for cross-browser compatibility. Or if you run into an older site that only allows IE.
3. Adsense Notifier - If your sites contain Google Adsense ads, you may find a habit of logging into Adsense to view your earnings. With this handy plugin, you can view your earnings from your browser without having to take the time out of your day to login.
4. Web Developer Toolbar - This is a very handy plugin. It provides many excellent features. I use it primarily to gather web page information and debugging.
5. Minimize To Tray - I use this primarily with Thunderbird, but you can use it with Firefox as well.
There are five great add-ons that you should use. In part two, I’m going to tell you about more great add-ons and ways to be a more efficient web site owner.
